Syngas Monitoring System

The ABYSS ASG® Portable Syngas Analyser (NDIR and TCD) series is specially designed for continuous and simultaneous monitoring of primary syngas constituents CnHm, CH4, CO2, CO, O2 and H2. Fitted with on board BTU calculation, the ABYSS ASG® Portable Syngas Analyser syngas fulfils the requirements of medium to large scale coal or biomass gasification or pyrolysis, off-gas from steel and iron plant, Blast furnace, Coking, Converter, Direct Iron Ore Smelting Reduction, Endo & Exo Gas Generators for heating treating. It is based on the micro-flow type non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) method for CH4 and CO, CnHm, CO2, and uses a Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) for H2 and O2.

The ABYSS ASG® Portable Syngas Analyser is housed in a robust and compact enclosure and offers a large variety of features such as on-board BTU calculation and a built-in sampling pump, calibration valves and printer.

SAMPLING SYSTEM

When sampling gas from gasification process, pyrolysis, off-gas from steel plant or blast furnace (…) the use of a dedicated sampling system is necessary to ensure reliable application specific sample preparation. AHL Heated Sample Lines

The AHL electrically heated sample lines series is designed for connecting to all type of sampling equipment. The use of heated line ensures that the gas components in the sample stream remain above their respective dew point and thereby eliminates the risk of condensation. Thanks to a modular design and a large selection and combination of options, the heated lines AHL ensures safe and reliable sample transfer within CEMS or process monitoring systems. ASS Stationary Gas Sampling System

The APS portable sampling system is designed so that detailed gas analysis can be carried out at any time in any place. The entire sampling system is housed in a compact and robust carrying case which ensures safe transport and easy set-up. All the components can be easily accessed for inspection or routine maintenance. The APS concept allows you to perform gas analysis in an efficient manner, safely and with a minimum of maintenance. This system ensures reliable sample preparation without loss and prevents damage on the downstream analysis system. Process monitoring

Reliable, accurate and application customised online monitoring systems are valuable in DRI and other syngas plants as they allow determining the quality parameters of blast furnace, coke and natural gas essential to process optimisation.

In particular, the energy content of the gases, as described by their calorific value, provides the user with important information about efficient firing of different plants in the steel mill (coking plant, sinter plant, rolling mill, etc.) or a nearby power plant.
High-calorific coke or natural gas is mixed with low-calorific converter or blast furnace gas in mixing stations. This is to adjust the calorific value of the mixture to the requirements of the subsequent consumer and to avoid discharging of valuable gases into the off gas.
The knowledge of the calorific value together with information about pressure and flow rate of the fuel gas enables the user to adjust a constant energy content of the mixed gas using an intelligent control system.
Furthermore, analysis data of the gas analysers are also used to determine the equivalent amount of oxygen that is required to run the combustion process. This results in a stoichiometric and uniform combustion and prevents soot production

Gasification and Pyrolisis

The use of process gas online monitoring systems at locations such blast furnace gas outlet, converter off gas exhaust and coking gas outlet is very reasonable in order to analyse the fuel gases composition by measuring the concentration of CO, CO2, O2, N2, CH4, and H2. There from the calorific value BTU and the Wobbe Index WI can be accurately calculated. Modern steel plants uses dedicated stationary online monitoring system to monitor the primary constituents of Direct Reduction Iron process gases essential to have a full understanding of the process status and efficiency.
